Summer Issue of the Society’s E-Journal Now Available

The lead articles in this issue focus on the legacy of the Semicolon Court, the story of William Marsh Rice and Captain James A. Baker, and the failed 5th Circuit nomination of Gov. Jimmie Allred. The issue also includes a variety of other features of special interest to those interested in Texas history.

Joint Session at the TSHA Annual Meeting

On March 2, 2017, the Society will present a panel titled “Semicolons, Murder, and Counterfeit Wills: Texas History through the Law’s Lens” at the TSHA Annual Meeting in Houston. Latest Issue of the Society’s Journal Now Available

The theme of the Winter 2017 issue of the Journal of the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society is the history of Texas family law. Dedicated to the legacy of Professor Joseph W. McKnight, the issue includes an introduction by Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Nathan L. Hecht and substantive legal history articles by Justice Debra Lehrmann, Justice Jason Boatright, attorney/historian Richard Orsinger, and historian Elizabeth York Enstam.
